Mexican-American tenor, Antonio Adame (he/him) is an opera singer, voice teacher, and emerging published composer born and raised from Houston, TX. Adame's performances have spanned several stages and opera companies. He made his chorus debut with Opera in the Heights in L'Italiana in Algeri (2025), soloist and ensemble debut with I Colori dell’Opera (2025), and made his professional debut at Carnegie Hall in Summer 2026. He joined the board of I Colori dell’Opera in Spring 2026, working to create opportunities to showcase works from a diversity of composers with a diversity of performers, making classical music accessible to Houston locals.
With nearly five years of teaching experience, Adame's career in the Houston metropolitan area spans various high schools, amongst other music institutions. He proudly serves students of all ages, ranging from elementary-level students to adults. Adame’s teaching philosophy embraces the collaborative nature of private instruction while inspiring musicians, by implementing approachable teaching methods to teach vocal techniques that empower them to love their voices, both as musicians and as people. One of the teaching methods he proudly integrates is culturally responsive teaching by exemplifying his students’ culture, heritage, and backgrounds through the art of song. Adame is well-versed in teaching many singing styles, including classical, mariachi, and pop.
At Texas Woman’s University, he studied music composition under Dr. Paul David Thomas, where he premiered his Serenade No. 1 (2023) for orchestra, and performed several of his solo vocal works, later premiering the song cycle Requiem for the Heart (2023). Most recently, Adame has published a choral work for tenor-bass choir titled In the Night: Songs of the Evening (2025), being performed at the high school level and often taken to contest. Some of his upcoming works include choral music for SSAA, SSA, and TTBB choirs and his first balletic work, Communitas Vivarii (2027).
Adame holds a Master of Music degree in Voice Pedagogy from Texas Woman’s University, 2023 and a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Abilene Christian University, 2021.
